A rather simple prayer: Choosing to be different

I wrote this poem one night in 2011 when I was distraught, it is a sincere prayer to God: Dear Lord, Sometimes, I do make a rather rare prayer, But a prayer, From the depths, The depths of my soul and heart.   This rare, Rather simple prayer, Has no words spoken, It has nobody hear it spoken, But the words from the heart, Oh so clear, How they flow, To reach out to you.   This prayer, Does come in the loneliest of times, Yes, It may be in a crowd, Or I may be alone.   This one … Continue reading A rather simple prayer: Choosing to be different

When it’s too dark, too bad…the light is near!

I recently have just been telling you about my day out. (Click The power of water! Adrenaline packed! Fun Galore! to read that) Every time is learning time though, even in the midst of crazy fun! I learned one thing, as I was swiftly sliding down at Village Market! Never give up hope, when it’s too dark, that’s when the light shows up! When we were sliding, a long trail of humanity made up of me and my friends, the speed at one point in the dark tunnel, was too high that all you … Continue reading When it’s too dark, too bad…the light is near!

The power of water! Adrenaline packed! Fun Galore!

Today I have learned something. I am precious, loved and valuable. I began my day by joining up with one of my dads. we went to a quiet joint and had what I would call Breakfast. On my way to school, I decided to join up with some of my friends at “The Journey” Kenyatta University, Kenya, who were going for a fun day out to kick off the semester, at the Village Market, Kenya. (By the way the sliding swimming area’s architecture was done by the same person who did the architecture of Tribe Hotel, Kenya, which is also similar … Continue reading The power of water! Strong Message! Go go Kenyan Youth!

Something fascinated me today. I watched Kenyan youth burn coffins outside parliament! I am very proud of them! Kudos! Bravo! This got me thinking. We’ve all heard that the pen is mightier than the gun? I so presume. What about strong messages sent across the target group? Extraordinaire! That is exactly what I am writing about, though I don’t know how to put it across! But here we go… Juicy, juicy, Who’s smarter now? Aha! Pen? Gun? Symbolism is the word, The strength, The message!   Yes, We are generation Y, We want change, We want better life, Real Leadership, Not greed, And selfishness, The body … Continue reading Strong Message! Randomness? Understatement!

Do you know who I am? I am a daddy!

I was listening to a song called “Live like you are loved” by Mark Schultz. ( he has a very sweet voice by the way) It’s a song about a daddy releasing his eighteen year old girl to spread out her wings and fly in this world. I remembered the once beautiful poem I posted called, “Father to Daughter”( Click to read it). I wanted to write something on fathers releasing their daughters to live on their own, and find their way in this world, When I came across this poem, written by my daddy. I just edited it. Read … Continue reading Do you know who I am? I am a daddy!

When reality hits so hard!

I wrote this when I got some very disturbing news. It pretty describes the situation at hand so well! When reality hits so hard! When truth is told, And reality hits so hard, That fast heartbeat, That hot face, That turns pink, If you belong to the light-skinned kind, That tight knot in the tummy, The disbelief, The denial, The thought process, That tries real hard to push, Truth away!   It’s only when you stay, For a while, That’ll you’ll finally say, Maybe I understand, Maybe it ain’t that bad, Of course not forgetting to emphasize: Unfortunately, The consequences … Continue reading When reality hits so hard!
